Rt/Mo Restoration Protection Build
I wanted to share the build I've been using for awhile, which I really like, and haven't really seen anywhere else. Strictly intended for PVE:
Restoration 12+1+3
Protection Prayers 12
Aegis
Mark of Protection
Recuperation
Weapon of Warding
Resilient Weapon
Soothing Memories
Spirit Light
Rebirth
Restoration has some great defensive and healing skills, but it is notably lacking a good elite. As it happens Protection Prayers has a very good elite skill - Mark of Protection - that only makes sense if you don't emphasize protection, since it disables your protection skills for awhile.
In the party the character is a secondary healer/protector, working along with a dedicated healing prayers monk. Mostly I spam the two weapon spells - Resilient Weapon on allies who are taking damage along with conditions or hexes, or Weapon of Warding on allies who are taking damage but are condition and hex free. Both of these skills give regeneration and extra defense, but don't directly duplicate the efforts of the healing monk. In PVE hexes and conditions are uber-common and Resilient Weapon really shines.
Soothing Memories is fine even with no urn spell. It heals comparable to a monk's Orison+Divine Favor bonus. Spirit Light isn't nearly as good, especially with only one spirit in the build, and I use it less often.
Aegis and Recuperation are great for defending and regenerating the whole team at once. IMO Recuperation is the biggest reason why Restoration magic is even worth bothering with.
Mark of Protection is just awesome for bailing out a character who is in serious trouble. Tanking assassin tested and approved.
Downsides - teammates would often rather have their conditions removed instead of having Resilient Weapon applied on top. For some reason the blind warrior takes only limited comfort in a +24 armor bonus with +6 health regeneration. Also, there is no weapon linked to restoration or protection prayers, so you only use your weapon for energy and other mods, and you can't hope to do much damage. But as a healer you shouldn't be attacking much anyways.
So I encourage people to try it if you want a good alternative to a protection monk. Feedback is welcome.
